New Zealand is one of a few fortunate countries in the world where the majority of our electricity is generated from renewable sources! In fact approximately 80% of our electricity is made from hydropower and geothermal power. As the demand for electricity increases we believe it’s really important this remains the case!
Being based in the Hawkes Bay, Integrated Energy are investing in the power of sunshine to ensure future customer networks and buildings are sustainable. Solar generation is currently only small contributor to New Zealand’s energy supply, making up 0.1% of the total renewable energy. But this is changing as technology advances make it easier to store and distribute electricity.
The TechHub in Ahuriri is a great example of Integrated Energies initiative in this area. This former woolshed was redeveloped into a modern, multi-let office space housing several New Zealand tech firms. With a large, pitched roof area and uninterrupted sunlight hours this site is perfectly situated to harness the energy of the sun. The site has two solar arrays running through inverters which feedback real time information – plus the added bonus of reducing electricity consumption from the grid by 30,000 kWh on average each year.
